On again, off again. Maybe she will, maybe she won't.
Even after her dreadful appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards last year, MTV has made it official - Britney Spears will headline the Award show again this year.
But there will be no singing and dancing for Britney. Instead, executives have confirmed Brit's performance will be something "fun and unexpected" - no more details were given.
Spears performance last year embarrassed the network, and herself, as the troubled singer tried to make a comeback with her "Gimme More" song and dance routine. The reviews and press were brutal, criticizing MTV for allowing the performance to go on at all.
But, over the last few months, Spears seems to have cleaned herself up and is back on her game. Her dad is still in control of her money and other personal affairs by playing the role of legal conservator, but the judge seems to be loosening the rope around the pop icon.
MTV also alluded to the possibility of another appearance by an aging and troubled singer - Michael Jackson. Now, we're no Hollywood writers, but if you combined Britney Spears and Michael Jackson in a humorous skit where they openly lampooned themselves, recognizing the media saturation of their lives, it could be pretty funny.
