Congratulations to Kate! She held off a very persistent Jin. The battle got down to 50-50 towards the end but Kate held onto her lead and finished up strong. She is the final character to make it to the quarterfinals.
Kate: 51% (selected to win Round 3 on 65.3% of all brackets)
Jin: 49% (selected to win Round 3 on 26.6% of all brackets)
The bracket site has been updated and we're down to two of our bracketeers tied for first place! By the end of the quarterfinals we could be down to one single leader, or both of them could fall from their high and mighty perch. We'll just have to wait and see.
Kate's victory celebration is short-lived though, because she's getting thrown right back onto the chopping block today! Today's quarterfinal matchup pits Kate against her fellow Oceanic 6er Hurley. The winner today will be their bracket champion and move on to the Final Four. Will it be the sexy convict or the loveable millionaire? We'll find out in 24 hours!
Kate Austen
A survivor of Oceanic Flight 815, Kate Austen was once on the run for murdering her biological father. She was pursued by a US Marshal who eventually caught her in Australia. Kate found her freedom and a new beginning when the plane they were taking back to the US crashed onto the Island. On the Island, Kate served a leadership role for the Losties. She was captured by the Others more than once and eventually escaped the Island as one of the Oceanic 6. Back home, Kate faced trial for her crimes and has taken on Aaron Littelton as her son. She was last seen telling Jack she would never go back to the Island.
Hugo “Hurley” Reyes
One-time psych ward patient and fast food clerk, Hurley won a huge sum of money by playing the lottery with numbers he picked up from his time in the Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute. He came to believe his money was cursed though. After surviving the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, the Numbers seemed to follow him. He seemed to have broken his curse and found a sense of belonging with the survivors. He is a member of the Oceanic 6 and was readmitted to Santa Rosa not long after returning home. He was last seen breaking out of Santa Rosa with help from Sayid.
