While some survivors escape to the Kahana, others head toward The Orchid, and some are captured by the Others. The Oceanic 6 find themselves closer to rescue as the confrontation between the survivors and the freighter people continues. Almost 3 years after leaving the Island, the Oceanic 6 continue to deal with the consequences.

Jack and the castaways begin their efforts to make contact with Naomi's rescue ship. Charlie is held captive in The Looking Glass. The ploy at the beach does not go as planned. Several years after the crash, Jack suffers from depression and drug/alcohol abuse.
