The Lost Fantasy League: Week 2 Update

Update: 13:15 GMT For those that are having trouble with the full spreadsheet. You can now download the table in Excel Format.

Introduction
Week 1 got us off to a huge start point-wise, but it was pretty much a one-man show. Despite the fact that the Freighter Four stripped our League characters from any shot at flashback/flashforward points in Week 2, the episode eclipsed "The Beginning of the End" by a good margin. That's right, "Confirmed Dead" had a higher total score. How high was this score, you ask? Try 325 points. That's 60 more than last week!

Week 2 also dealt out points a little more evenly, which helps just about everybody (as long as you had one or more of the 13 League characters making the episode). How on earth could this happen? Well, you're going to have to watch the video and read the sections below to find out just how it all went down. If you're looking for commentary on the episode, this is the wrong place to look. Check out one of the many excellent recaps and commentaries on "Confirmed Dead" in the posts below this one.

Enjoy this Week 2 Update! The video is one of the shortest to date, which is always good. If you have any questions or comments on League activity so far, or you want to dispute or comment on a particular points ruling, hit up the comment section or email us at LFLquestions@gmail.com.

The Lost Initiative: Series 4, Episode 2 - Confirmed Dead

The Lost Initiative - The official UK Audio Podcast from Sky One
Discussing S4, Ep2 - Confirmed Dead, broadcast at 9 pm February 10th on Sky One

S4Ep2 - (My Brain Cells Are) Confirmed Dead

Here is this week's recap from Erika Olson (aka "e") from LongLiveLocke.com .

You know, it's a bittersweet thing, writing these posts. When an episode of Lost is action-packed and contains a ton of new information to obsess over, as a fan of the show, I am very happy. But as a Lost blog-writer, I am scared to death. There was much to digest in "Confirmed Dead," so if I ever want to get this write-up done, I need follow Jack's instructions: let the fear take over for 5 seconds and 5 seconds only, and then move forward.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5....

Snap Judgments by Luhks

WOMAN: Dan, why are you so upset?
DANIEL: I don’t know.

In 2005, social scientist Malcolm Gladwell published a best-selling work of non-fiction entitled Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. Gladwell’s book explores the phenomenon known as 'thin-slicing', in which a part of the human brain known as the adaptive unconscious can process massive amounts of information instantaneously. In one particular example, months of scientific tests indicated that a statue buried underground was authentic. Despite this evidence, a handful of experts were able to judge that the piece was a fake after only a two-second glance. Those experts, showing an uncanny psychic-like ability, eventually turned out to be correct. Although the elaborate hoax deceived our most advanced technology, it could not slip by the oldest and greatest piece of technology: the human brain. Examples of such amazingly accurate snap judgments in Blink may sound like science-fiction, but all of them are grounded in hard science.
