Episode 6x15 Across the Sea- ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Hey All,
Happy LOST Day!!

Last week's LOST Episode 6x15 Across the Sea, the Jacob and MiB flashback had a mixed reaction across the fan base including the episode graders.

Some hated it and were upset that we got such an episode so close to the end, while many others loved the episode. I actually liked the episode and was happy to see some of the answers they gave us. I thought the acting by both Mark Pellegrino and Titus Welliever was spot on and so was Allison Janey as their crazy "mother".

This was the episode that began the chain events that led to our Losties being on the island so I thought it was an important episode. There is too much to talk about in this post, but below is this week's chart.

What did you all think??

Episode 6x14 The Candidate - LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Hey All,
Happy LOST Day!!

So last week's episode 6x14 The Candidate was very emotional and many fans reacted in different ways. Some were quite upset with the writers while most loved the episode. The episode was packed with great action on island and the flash sideways moments off island were filled with some interesting moments.

Many of the news and blog sites said they enjoyed it and the final average grade for the episode was an "A-". This was the first time this season that a grade was on the border and could easily have been an "A" if couple of more grades were higher.

So what did you all think??

Quote of the Week via Lyly: I liked the episode but it shocked me a lot. Maybe it's because I was shocked and why I can't give it an A+ because it would be lying to myself to say I adored it which I don't really since our Losties are dead. I can't enjoy it but it was a great episode, do you understand my dilemma?

Episode 6x13 The Last Recruit - ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Hey All,
Hope the one week break wasn't too long for you all? Well the last episode was an ideal "transitional" episode putting our Losties in position for the final stretch run.

There were several interesting scenes and it was almost an overload of information as the ALT stories began to merge and the on island Losties seemed like they were going to work together until Jack decided to jump ship and return to the main land. We had the Sun/Jin reunion, the Jack/Claire reunion, Jack and Locke meeting up both off island and on island and much more!

Some of the graders loved the episode while others thought it was just ok. We received a good mix of grades from the blogger/media sites and the final average grade was a "B".

Most of the graders mentioned that they thought the episode was a good episode but mainly used to setup the rest of the season.

BTW, yes Karen finally decided to NOT give an A+ to an episode! You can see why below because she is the "Quote of the Week".

Quote of the Week via Karen's LOST Notebook: "It is breaking my heart to do this, but even though we got A LOT of important information and connections, something felt...wrong. Who knows, maybe that was the intention. Witnessing Sun and Jin's reunion was wonderful but feel short in the heartfelt passionate love they're supposed to share. I felt like they were reunited after a weekend apart as opposed to the lengthy time frame we're led to believe they were apart. Again, who knows, maybe that's a bit of "info" we should keep in mind."

Episode 6x12 - ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Happy LOST Day all!

So another week has come and gone as we inch closer to the end of LOST. This past week's Hurley centric Episode 6x12 Everybody Loves Hugo was well received by most fans and the same goes with the graders this week.

The episode contained several shocking moments and a big reveal as we learned finally about the whisper(er)s. I was just ok with the answer, but was not too happy how it was revealed. It almost felt like to me that it was just thrown in there and it did not get enough screen time. It is one of the main reasons why I did not give this episode an A-, but the "+" was for all the Desmond scenes.

Well many graders loved the episode and the over all average grade ended up as an A-.

What did you all think??

Episode 6x11 Happily Ever After - ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Hey All,
This past week's episode was amazing and as always Henry Ian Cusick did a great job portraying Desmond. Desmond episodes seem to stand above the other episodes and this week was no different.

The writers did a great job once again with Desmond time traveling/flashing through time and worlds and Charlie's return and underwater scene were fantastic. The fact that ALT Desmond finally has Widmore's approval but not Penny's love was an interesting twist but as always Desmond and Penny's love can not be stopped no matter how much Hawking and Widmore want to keep them apart.

There was so much in this episode including Faraday and Minkowski's cameos that were right on the dot with ALT musician Faraday telling a story of love at first sight causing him to remember that he was a nuclear bomb blowing scientist in the Island timeline and Minkowski the driver providing Desmond with what ever he desires.

The graders once again were fairly unanimous with their grades and the episode had a final average grade of an "A". Several gave the episode an A+, but there were too many As that lead to the average overall grade.

Quote of the Week via Erin at LOST Blog:
"I COMPLETELY loved this, it was exactly what I always hope for in a LOST episode – some answers, some tying together, some more questions, sideways time and island time, long lost characters, some great sciency things, plus some faith. LOVE IT!"

Episode 6x10 The Package - ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Hey All,
With the Easter holiday this past weekend it took a couple of extra days to get some of the grades, but we got almost all of the grades sent in and practically all of the graders were in the same boat giving the episode an average grade of a "B-".

Sun/Jin episodes for some have been boring in the past and many graders did mention the slower pace, but the episode had some potential huge reveals. Sun knocking herself out on island and then waking up off island in the ALT, Keamy tying up Jin and worried if he might know about the island, MiB's interaction with Widmore, Desmond being "The Package" and much more.

Quote of the Week via Axel at LOST Mythos Podcast: "I knew it was a Sun and Jin episode and I really wasn't expecting much, but what we got was one of the best "putting the pieces into place" episodes of the series. And what seems to be the first clear comunication of the exsistence of the flash sideways when Widemore says that if Locke gets off the Island their loved ones and everyone else will "all simply cease to be"."

Episode 6x09 - ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Hey All,
I know a few of you did not think this past week's episode of LOST was as good as others thought, but you were in a big minority as most fans felt that it was amazing and one of the better episodes we have seen.

The fan polls ranked this episode very high and just slightly below the The Constant making it the second highest ranked episode.

The blogger/media sites agreed with the majority as several of them gave A++++!

As always the additional "+" symbols are to show how they really felt but only count for one "+".

What more can I say, I loved seeing Richard's flashback, Nestor Carbonell's acting was awesome and and any Jacob and MiB interaction is always a plus. Of course the writers gave us several answers including killing two birds with one Black Rock, explaining how the ship got to the center of the island and what destroyed the 4-toed statue.

Quote of the Week via Anna (FourToedFoot.com): Can I do A to the 15th power? It was as emotional as the Constant, as mythical as Cabin Fever, as shocking as The Man Behind the Curtain…I could go on through all of the BIG episodes we have of the series. There are not many who seem to have NOT added this to their “top-episodes of all times” lists. Especially when we have been given NOTHING about this character but little spurts and hints…the fan buildup was phenomenal and I have to agree it met and surpassed my expectations.

Honorable Mention - Best Use of the Letter "A": 'A' is for Admirable Amazing Astonishing Awesome Ab Aeterno Alpert.

Episode 6x08 Recon - ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Hey All,
Below is this week's ODI LOSTometer Episode Grading chart. As expected from the mixed reaction from fans resulting in some lowered ratings, the blogger/media world felt the same way.

Some thought it was awesome and gave the episode an A+, while others just did like it and gave it a C+. The wide range resulted in a average grade of a B- putting it at the level of What Kate Does. I am sure many of you would disagree with the lower grade, but then again a B- is still a good grade. Also there is a little range for each grade level and WKD is at the bottom of that range close to a C+ and Recon was a solid B- so for those that want to rank and keep score, Recon did score higher that WKD but both end up with the same grade.

For me, this week's Sawyer flash sideways seemed a little too cop procedural and soap opera but it was interesting to see James still looking for Cooper but this time around as a cop. The on-island stuff was much more interesting to me especially the con Sawyer is trying to pull on Widmore and MiB, but I am still not down with Zombie Sayid and Crazy Claire, but was cool to see Smokey slap her silly.

BTW, Karen mentioned she ALMOST gave this episode an A, but decided to keep the streak alive and give it an A+.

Quote of the Week via Seat42F: "Seems like an interesting transition episode and well we need to save the A+ for next week :)"

Episode 6x07 Dr. Linus - LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

So another Ben episode and another awesome performance by Michael Emerson!

This week's episode delivered an episode that provided one of the most evil and manipulating characters we have had on LOST with redemption off and on island. I have always been a big fan of manipulating creepy Ben and to see him break down and us to finally see all he has ever wanted was to be "haved" was an interesting twist. Some still don't believe him and I wonder what will eventually happen to him?

One of the coolest scenes for me was the return to the Black Rock and Jack sits down with Richard after lighting the fuse and says ok now let's talk. However, Darth Locke gets a notable mention for trying to convince Dr. Linus to take the dark path and be the principal and also using the Force to free him from Ilana.

Most of the bloggers and fans seemed to really like this week's episode and overall it ended with an AVG grade of an "A". This is the second episode to get and it seems like we like our LOST teachers Dr. Linus and The Substitute John Locke.

Quote of the Week from LOST-Media's Gertie Beth:
"Oh, I LOVED this one!! Cried like a baby... I love Ben! I think?"

So do you all agree? What did you think?

Episode 6x06 Sundown - LOSTometer Episode Grade Chart

Hey All,
So this week in the ALT time line we find out Nadia is married to Killer Uncle Sayid's brotha' and Jin was being captive by Egg Chef Keamy. While on island, we learn that Dogen is a ninja warrior that was brought to the island by Jacob, that the temple is not protected by the ash after all, we see badass Darth Sayid, Crazy ummm "hot" Silence of the Lambs Claire, Confused Hypnotized Kate all join Team MiB. Not to mention the last 5 minutes all play out with a creepy Catch a Falling Star lullaby playing in the background.

Nice to know you Temple Others.

Boy. I have been struggling with this episode since I watched it on Tuesday night and still can't put my finger on why it is bothering me. I ended up giving it a B+, but the "+" was a bonus for the last five minutes alone.

I think the flash sideways is what did not seem to work for me. There are a ton of interesting things I picked up on after a second viewing but on the first watch all I got out of it was well looks like Sayid is still a killer and of course Jin is now connected to his story line. I will discuss more about my thoughts in our podcast.

The grades this week were quite interesting ranging from A+++ to D? A very interesting range as we are all watching the same episode, but goes to show how different we all take it in even this late in the game. All about perception.

The average for this week ended up being a B, but I know many fans loved this week.

Quote of the Week via Crit at F***YeahLOST:

The last few minutes of the episode were fantastic and the accompanying score was flawless, but most everything leading up to it felt a bit flat. I'm still finding it difficult to invest in the flash-sideways, and until we know just what is going on I think it will continue to be difficult.

However, I have a great deal of hope for what's to come. As the Flocke Army marched off, I felt like we just closed one chapter of this season, and next week we'll turn the page to a brand new chapter in the buildup to whatever showdown is to take place on/for the island.

Episode 6x05 Lighthouse - ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade

Hey All,
I really liked this week's episode but felt a few moments on island during the Crazy Claire scenes just did not sit well with me. Don't get me wrong I think Evil Claire is badass and MiB as her friend is cool, but I preferred what was happening with Jack and Hurley at the Lighthouse. Seeing the numbers associated to the Losties and to get that confirmation that someone was watching these characters was pretty cool.

I thought seeing Jack having Daddy Issues with his very own son was pretty cool as well.

Most of the graders seemed to like the episode quite a bit but a few of them thought it was not that great. Still the lowest grade given this week was a B- and the episode ended up with an average grade of a B+.

Quote of the Week via DocArzt about his grade of a "B": Well, first let me say that a B for an episode of LOST still ranks it higher than anything else on television. What made the episode less than perfect for me, frankly, was the redundancy. Maybe Jack and Hurley’s quest will payoff later on but for now it really just seemed to reiterate things we already knew: numbers represent survivors; Jacob was watching people; yadda yadda. I’m intrigued by the introduction of David, but in a season where we are supposed to be getting answers I thought the flash-sideways would have paid off better if we had learned who his mother is. It felt like an extraneous mystery considering what we are already dealing with.

Episode 6x04 The Substitute - ODI LOSTometer Episode Grade

Hey All,
Looks like the Candidate Cave and getting some answers along with new questions in the Locke-Centric The Substitute was received very well by most of the graders.

The final average grade provided us with our first "A" rated episode of the season!

Since last week we have been getting quite a bit of positive feedback from the community and have decided to make this a weekly thing as long as all of the folk participating want to continue to provide us with grades.

Several new sites have been added to the chart and next week we might add some more. The new grades for Episode 6x03 What Kate Does pushed the grade up one notch from C+ to a B- while the premiere stayed at an A-.

Besides the Candidate Cave, one of my favorite scenes took place off island when Locke meets Ben as a teacher. I couldn't stop laughing. Just loved it. BTW, Terry O' Quinn and Josh Holloway are acting their A$$s off!

Quote of the Week:
"You give me a John Locke episode and I'm a happy person"

So please discuss and comment below if you agree with the ratings.

Episode 6x01/02/03 - ODI LOSTometer Episode Rating

Hey All,
So for awhile now I have been wanting to come up with some sort of rating system where fellow bloggers, podcasters, and media members could rate an episode of LOST and then come up with an average grade so you all could see what we thought.

So I contacted a few fellow LOST bloggers and friends and several were very happy to be a part of it. In order to include the fans voice in the rating, I have taken two fan polls (DarkUFO and LOST-Forum) and given the episode a grade based on the average score in the polls.

Below is a breakdown of Grades from A+ to F from all of the fellow bloggers/media sites that have decided to participate. Several others have been sent emails and we will add their grades to the charts as they are submitted. We then take an average grade and that is the final LOSTometer Avg Grade.

If this is something you all like then we will do this weekly and I think it is a cool way for everyone to get a quick overview of what we all think.

Do you agree/disagree with some of the grades? Let us know below!

Thanks to all of the people that are participating and you can find them on their sites via the following links below where many of of them do recaps that provide some great insight.

NOTE: Some of the members participating sent in some comments and will add those soon.
