Lost Fantasy League: Week 5 Update!

What an explosive episode! As I said last week, 6.06 is a turning point for the Lost Fantasy League. Listen to the audio here (video next week!) to see if I have ruled out any of your characters as a contender for their group. From now on, the videos will feature a quick rundown of the League Leaders and breakdowns for each character group, focusing on who has the momentum and what it will take for the other characters to catch them.

All of the action was fun to watch, but it took its toll on the episode total. "Sundown" is the lowest-scoring episode so far this season (after an adjustment for "Lighthouse"). The episode scored only 490 points, despite hitting 19 of our point categories. The biggest blow came from death deductions. There were 13 of them! That's 260 points down the drain! In the end, though, "Sundown" wouldn't have been as awesome without them.

IMPORTANT POINT ADJUSTMENTS FOR 6.05 "LIGHTHOUSE":

1) Hurley gets #'s Points. Hurley had both 4 and 108 written down on his arm.


IMPORTANT POINT RULINGS FOR 6.06 "SUNDOWN":

1) Sayid only gets a minor injury from fighting Dogen. While Sayid came out of the scuffle bruised, Dogen did not draw blood. According to our rules, blood must be drawn for a fight to be considered a major injury.

2) The Ash counts as a new thing for Claire. Unless we get a flashback that shows she has seen it before, we are assuming that this is the first time Claire has encountered the Temple ash.

3) Kate injures Lennon. There was intent and discomfort, so Kate gets docked for a minor injury when she slams Lennon into the wall.

4) The sword Sayid uses is new to MIB. Unless we see MIB encounter it in a flashback, we are assuming that it was a new thing for him.

5) The restaurant does not count as a new place. Unless it turns out to be a place of importance as the season goes on, we won't be awarding New Place points for it.

6) Ilana, Miles, Frank and Sun all miss out on Smokey Points. We have to see League Characters on screen with Smokey and these four had taken refuge behind the Temple wall before Smokey appeared.

7) Nadia's house and children are not new to Sayid. There were references to him visiting the house and seeing the children before in this Alt timeline.

8) Sayid's Smokey encounter counts as New Person/Thing points. This episode marked the first time that Sayid encountered the Smoke Monster in any form. Smokey/MIB also gets points for a New Person for encountering Sayid.

9) Here is how we're dealing with the Smoke Monster Temple Massacre: The rules do not require that we see the killing take place but, as commissioners, we require a lot of evidence before we dock someone for murder. We know that, aside from Dogen and Lennon, everyone that was killed in the Temple was killed by MIB/Smokey.

By looking at several screencaps of the aftermath, I counted nine bodies in the Temple courtyard. We also saw four people actually getting killed by Smokey during the episode. Since these deaths all occurred in the courtyard area, we are going to assume that four of the nine bodies in the courtyard belong to those folk that we actually saw die. Smokey will be charged for the murder of these four and the remaining five bodies in the courtyard for a total of 9 kills on the episode.

Five of our seven character groups were represented this week. This might make you think that there were a lot of Fantasy Geniuses of the Week. Not so! Episode 6.06 only generated two Fantasy Geniuses of the Week! The most points that could be earned were 475 points but our FGotW both earned 445 points. Here's who they had:
